About the Role

An established roofing and construction business is looking for an experienced Roof Truss Designer / Estimator with strong MiTek Pamir experience to join its technical team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the accurate design, detailing and estimation of roof truss systems for residential, commercial and related construction projects. This position requires someone who is technically strong, detail-oriented and able to interpret architectural and structural drawings and convert them into practical, compliant and cost-effective roofing solutions.

Hands-on MiTek Pamir experience is essential and will be a key requirement when candidates are shortlisted.

Key Responsibilities

• Design timber and/or light steel roof truss systems using MiTek Pamir.
• Interpret architectural drawings, structural drawings, plans and client specifications.
• Produce accurate roof layouts, truss designs and associated technical documentation.
• Design roof structures in accordance with relevant building regulations, engineering requirements and industry standards.
• Prepare accurate material take-offs, quantities and estimates.
• Calculate roofing and truss requirements for quotations and projects.
• Assist with the preparation of detailed customer quotations and costing.
• Optimise truss designs to achieve practical and cost-effective solutions without compromising structural integrity.
• Identify potential design conflicts, discrepancies or technical concerns before manufacturing.
• Liaise with architects, engineers, contractors, sales teams, production teams and customers where required.
• Review amended drawings and update designs promptly.
• Ensure designs are suitable for manufacturing and installation.
• Provide technical support to production and installation teams.
• Maintain accurate project, drawing and design records.
• Manage several projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
• Assist with site-related technical queries where required.
• Ensure all completed work meets internal quality standards and applicable industry requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Proven practical experience using MiTek Pamir is essential.
• Previous experience designing roof trusses within the roofing, timber truss or construction industry.
• Strong understanding of roof structures, truss systems and roofing terminology.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings accurately.
• Experience preparing roof layouts and technical designs.
• Good understanding of measurements, dimensions, angles, loads and construction principles.
• Experience with estimating, costing or material take-offs is highly advantageous.
• Strong numerical and technical ability.
• Good computer literacy.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure and manage deadlines.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience

Preference will be given to candidates who have:

• Several years of recent MiTek Pamir roof-truss design experience.
• Experience working for a roof-truss manufacturer, roofing contractor or related construction business.
• Experience across both residential and commercial roofing projects.
• Design and estimating experience.
• Experience dealing directly with architects, engineers, contractors and customers.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes relating to timber roof trusses.
• Experience checking designs before production.
• Exposure to site measurements or resolving installation/design queries.
