Overview:
A client in the industrial sector is seeking an experienced Control & Instrumentation Engineer for a role focused on the design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced control and instrumentation systems. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in automation and process control, with approximately 3-6 years of hands-on experience in industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities:

Design and configure control systems including PLCs, DCS, SCADA, and HMI platforms

Specify, calibrate, and integrate field instruments for measuring pressure, temperature, flow, and level

Develop and test automation logic to meet safety and operational performance targets

Diagnose faults in control hardware and software, and implement effective solutions

Collaborate across disciplines to improve control strategies and reduce unplanned downtime

Ensure adherence to relevant local and international standards (IEC, ISO, SANS)

Maintain thorough documentation, such as loop diagrams, instrument data sheets, and control philosophies

Lead commissioning and handover of control and instrumentation systems for capital projects
Required Skills and Qualifications:

Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation Engineering
3-6 years of relevant experience in control and instrumentation within sectors such as mining, energy, manufacturing, or water treatment

In-depth knowledge of PLCs, DCS, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP)

Familiarity with hazardous area equipment and SIL-compliant systems

Ability to interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation

Experience with industrial cybersecurity, remote diagnostics, and predictive maintenance tools

Certifications or training with major automation platforms (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Honeywell)

Strong communication and coordination skills, with a track record of working across teams
