Responsibilities:

Business Improvement Perspective:

  • Collaborate with the Canada team to develop a revolving list of topics for business improvement.
  • Analyze these topics to select focused business testing areas.
  • Develop appropriate test plans to address unique business risks in these selected areas.
  • Perform business process tests and ensure that evidence of process controls from key leaders aligns with the company's desired outcomes.
  • Propose practical, value-added recommendations to address weaknesses or process inefficiencies, and work with process owners to implement changes.
  • Prepare concise, well-written reports to effectively communicate findings and recommendations to management.
  • Maintain business improvement documentation templates, protocols, and user instructions.
  • Report results and recommendations to business owners and executives for implementation.
  • Build strong relationships with Business Owners to support the implementation of business process improvements.

Controls Perspective

  • Develop annual operational test plans with the Canada team to analyze stated controls, identify gaps, and create action plans for remediation.
  • Identify risks and control gaps in business processes, and partner with business owners to provide process solutions and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Create process documentation that identifies key controls, mitigating controls, and significant weaknesses, assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of internal controls.
  • Identify non-compliance issues in policies and procedures and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Work with the Canada team to enhance the control environment, recommend policy and procedure updates, and support process owners in implementing and maintaining changes.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor, Fin/Service & Procurement, and Canada team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. A master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., CPA, CFA, CISA) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in internal controls, risk management, or compliance, with a strong understanding of control frameworks and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to assess and enhance internal controls and manage risk effectively.
  • Expertise in legal guidelines and corporate governance best practices.
  • Strong judicial, analytical, and numerical skills, with the ability to identify and react to emerging issues, develop solutions, and drive improvements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage conflicts, maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, and strategize problem-solving.
  • Proficient in reporting and presenting data in various formats, with outstanding planning abilities.
  • Ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to manage a demanding workload, including conflicting demands on time
  • Certified compliance professional (e.g., JSOX certification) is a plus.
