Environmental Laboratory Inorganic Chemist – Metals

Location: Bremerton, Washington
Salary: $50,000 – $65,000 annually
Job Type: Full-Time

Our client is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Environmental Laboratory Inorganic Chemist – Metals to join our growing laboratory team in Bremerton, WA. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated chemist who enjoys hands-on analytical work, environmental science, and contributing to projects that support public health, environmental remediation, and national defense industries.

Our laboratory partners with federal, state, and local agencies, Department of Defense contractors, shipbuilding companies, manufacturers, and environmental remediation firms. We proudly provide analytical testing services for respected organizations, including BAE Systems and Huntington Ingalls Shipbuilding.

What You'll Do

  • Supervise and/or perform physical and chemical testing of environmental samples
  • Operate complex analytical instrumentation and laboratory equipment safely and efficiently
  • Perform sample preparation, digestion, and extraction following SOPs and EPA methodologies, including:

    • EPA 8270
    • EPA 8260
    • EPA 8081
    • EPA 8082
    • EPA 8015
    • Additional approved analytical methods
  • Review, validate, and document analytical results to ensure compliance with quality control standards
  • Maintain legally defensible laboratory records and chain of custody documentation
  • Receive and log samples from internal and external clients
  • Generate analytical reports and maintain laboratory inventory and supplies
  • Support adherence to all federal, state, and internal quality assurance programs

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related science field
  • Minimum of 24 semester hours of college chemistry coursework
  • Official/certified college transcripts required
  • Minimum 2 years of applicable laboratory experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining accuracy and productivity
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ICP instrumentation and/or Mercury Analyzers
  • Experience with LIMS systems, sample receipt, and analytical workflows
  • Familiarity with AIHA and/or ELAP audit requirements
  • Environmental laboratory testing experience preferred
