About the job Science Lab Assistant (Woodlands)

Teaching and Learning

  • Prepare materials, apparatus and Science labs for the conducting of Science experiments including the hydroponics system (including vertical hydroponics), veggie towers, vermicomposting and mushroom cultivation.
  • Assist teachers in science-related activities in the lab during lessons and enrichment lessons if required.


Maintenance

  • Ensure that the Science apparatus, equipment, teaching and learning resources are in serviceable conditions including reporting of damages to science level head and head of department.
  • Administer the maintenance of the school eco-garden including reporting the conditions of the plants to science level head and head of department.
  • Arrange for feeding of fish in pond at eco-garden.
  • Administer the maintenance of the Hydroponics system including reporting of damages and faults to science level head and head of department.
  • Assist the Science HOD in the monitoring of the inventory for Science apparatus, equipment, teaching and learning resources.

School events

  • Assist teachers in preparation of activities for Science club and science-related events.

Requirement:

  • Full GCE N or O Level certificate or its equivalent
  • Good communication and inter-personal skills
  • Good team player with high level of initiative
  • Preferably certified in basic First Aid, CPR and AED
  • Preferably with relevant 5 years of work experience in primary school laboratory
  • Previous experience with hydroponics, veggie towers, vermicomposting and mushroom cultivation is preferred

Duration /Workin hours:

1 year contract (Option to extend 1 year) 1 Jan 2026 to 31 Dec 2026

  • Mondays to Thursdays: 8:30am to 6:00pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break
  • Fridays: 8:30am to 5:30pm, inclusive of 1hr lunch break
  • Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays
