Youth Worker (Lakeside)
About the job Youth Worker (Lakeside)
Seeking a passionate and empathetic individual to support primary school students after school, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds or without after-school care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and facilitate daily engagement, enrichment, and values-based activities.
- Provide life skills coaching: emotional regulation, communication, problem-solving, resilience.
- Build trusting relationships and offer mentoring, guidance, and basic counselling.
- Identify early warning signs of emotional or behavioural concerns and escalate appropriately.
- Collaborate with teachers, school counsellors, and specialised personnel to support student development.
- Communicate with parents and external agencies to reinforce support strategies.
- Maintain records, prepare resources, and ensure safe and smooth programme operations.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Child Development, Youth Work, or related fields.
- Experience working with children or youth preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to design and facilitate age-appropriate programmes.
- Warm, empathetic, patient, and professional; able to manage after-school environments.
Duration/ Workind hours:
12 months contract (May 2026 to Apr 2027)
Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:
Mondays to Fridays: 12:30pm to 5:30pm.
*Reporting hours may change to fit the school's needs.
Total Hours: 5 hours a day / 20 hours per week
