About the job Principal Engineer
Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to lead the operation, maintenance, and project execution of critical electrical and mechanical systems. This role is responsible for ensuring system reliability, supporting 24/7 operations, and driving high standards in performance, safety, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance
- Oversee daily operations and maintenance of M&E systems, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime
- Attend to operational issues and coordinate with Estate Management on interfacing matters
- Monitor system performance, respond to BMS alerts, and resolve technical faults promptly
- Provide standby support during critical operations, major events, or live system requirements
Technical & Engineering
- Manage maintenance and project works for electrical systems including UPS, generators, HT/LT switchgear, transformers, and related equipment
- Interpret technical drawings such as single-line diagrams and control schematics for troubleshooting and minor repairs
- Ensure reliability of mission-critical systems to support continuous 24/7 operations
Project & Vendor Management
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise contractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure timely and quality project delivery
- Prepare tender specifications and documentation for maintenance and project works
- Ensure proper execution and documentation of all engineering works
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all works comply with local safety regulations, codes, and WSH standards
- Maintain proper documentation and support audit requirements
- Stay on-call to respond to critical incidents and emergencies when required
Leadership & Support
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
- Support team development and ensure knowledge sharing within the department
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in M&E or critical facility environments
- Strong hands-on experience with power systems, including UPS and generators
- Good knowledge of high-voltage and low-voltage switchgear systems
- Familiar with power monitoring, control systems, and BMS operations
- Experience in lighting systems design, installation, and troubleshooting is an advantage
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-responsibility environment
- Able to be on standby and respond to emergencies as required
