Internal Audit Partner - Singapore

 Job Description:

CharteredPartners is seeking an experienced internal audit professional to join our client in Singapore at Partner level. The successful candidate will lead the firm's internal audit and controls advisory practice, carry primary responsibility for origination and client relationships, and take ownership of quality, methodology and the development of a multidisciplinary team. Specific qualifications, regulatory fluency and technical breadth are detailed in the sections that follow.

Confidential Client. Applying to this position means that you are interested to have an initial confidential discussion about how we can help you to identify and join a new accounting-firm practice. With your authorisation we will exclusively run the entire application and recruitment process for you, keeping you apprised at every step. With over 30 years' combined experience of helping the most talented accounting, audit, tax and advisory professionals to make safe, well-judged moves into rewarding new roles, we have the experience, network and ability to help you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hold profit-and-loss accountability for the internal audit and controls advisory practice, setting strategy, utilisation targets and margin expectations across the portfolio.
  • Originate and convert new engagements, building durable relationships with audit committees, chief audit executives and CFOs across listed, regulated and family-owned groups.
  • Act as engagement partner on co-sourced and outsourced internal audit programmes, signing off scope, risk assessment, fieldwork quality and board-level reporting.
  • Embed the Global Internal Audit Standards 2024 and the three lines model across delivery, refreshing methodology and audit universe templates as standards evolve.
  • Lead SOX 404 and ICFR readiness work for US-listed and dual-listed clients, aligning control testing to the COSO framework.
  • Advise SGX-listed boards on governance, risk and the internal audit requirements of the SGX Listing Rules and the Code of Corporate Governance.
  • Develop, mentor and appraise managers and directors, and contribute to recruitment, training and the firm's technical knowledge base.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • A recognised accountancy or internal audit credential such as CA (Singapore), CIA, ACCA or ICAEW, supported by a strong academic record.
  • At least twelve to fifteen years of internal audit and controls experience, including substantial time at director or partner level within a professional services firm or a large in-house function.
  • A demonstrable record of practice origination, with evidence of building and retaining a client portfolio in Singapore or the wider region.
  • Deep command of the Global Internal Audit Standards 2024, the COSO framework and the three lines model.
  • Working knowledge of MAS expectations relevant to internal audit, including the Technology Risk Management, Outsourcing and Business Continuity Management guidelines.
  • Familiarity with SOX 404 and ICFR delivery for US-listed entities.
  • Sound understanding of the SGX Listing Rules and the Singapore Code of Corporate Governance.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and overseeing concurrent engagements to budget and quality.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and the gravitas to advise audit committees and boards.

Preferred Experience:

  • Exposure across financial services, technology, consumer and industrial sectors rather than a single-industry concentration.
  • Familiarity with PDPA obligations as they intersect with controls and data governance reviews.
  • A secondary specialism in technology risk, data analytics-led auditing or ESG assurance.
  • An established standing within IIA Singapore, ISACA or the professional accountancy community.
  • Experience integrating data analytics and continuous auditing tools into delivery.
  • A track record of building and retaining diverse, high-performing teams.

Compensation:

Competitive package commensurate with seniority and experience, including base, performance-based bonus, long-term incentives and (where applicable) partner-track participation.

Next Steps:

This opportunity is open to Singapore citizens, permanent residents and candidates holding valid work rights who match the above criteria. Please apply to receive prompt contact from an experienced and specialist accounting-firm recruitment consultant.
