Controls Advisory Director - Singapore
Job Description:
CharteredPartners is seeking an experienced controls advisory professional to join our client in Singapore at Director level. The successful candidate will lead internal controls, ICFR and SOX advisory delivery, build the firm's controls transformation proposition, and contribute to origination across listed and regulated clients. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead internal controls, ICFR and SOX advisory engagements, from design and rationalisation through to testing and remediation.
- Direct controls transformation programmes that streamline control libraries and embed automation and continuous monitoring.
- Advise US-listed and dual-listed clients on SOX 404 readiness and management testing aligned to the COSO framework.
- Support SGX-listed boards on internal control over financial reporting and disclosure expectations under the Code of Corporate Governance.
- Integrate process, application and IT general controls into a coherent controls assurance model.
- Originate and convert new engagements, building relationships with CFOs, financial controllers and audit committees.
- Develop managers and senior consultants and contribute to methodology and technical thought leadership.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- A recognised accountancy credential such as CA (Singapore), ACCA, ICAEW or CPA, supported by a strong academic record.
- At least ten to twelve years in controls advisory, ICFR or external audit, including senior delivery.
- Deep command of the COSO framework, SOX 404 and ICFR design and testing.
- Practical experience of controls rationalisation, automation and continuous controls monitoring.
- Familiarity with the Global Internal Audit Standards 2024 and the three lines model.
- Working knowledge of MAS expectations and the SGX Code of Corporate Governance relevant to financial controls.
- Understanding of IT general controls and their role in financial reporting assurance.
- A record of leading teams and managing concurrent engagements to budget and quality.
- Excellent written and spoken English and the credibility to advise finance leadership and audit committees.
Preferred Experience:
- Exposure to enterprise resource planning implementations and controls embedded in finance transformation.
- Experience with process mining, robotic process automation or analytics-led controls testing.
- Familiarity with PDPA obligations as they intersect with data and process controls.
- A track record of origination or material business development contribution.
- Active standing within ISCA, IIA Singapore or ISACA.
- Experience mentoring teams and building specialist controls capability.
Compensation:
Competitive package commensurate with seniority and experience, including base, performance-based bonus, long-term incentives and (where applicable) partner-track participation.
