M&A Director - London
Job Description:
CharteredPartners is seeking an experienced mergers and acquisitions professional to join our client in London at Director level. The successful candidate will lead execution of mid-market sell-side and buy-side mandates while building an origination footprint, supporting partners on the most complex transactions and carrying responsibility for deal delivery. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end execution of UK mid-market M&A mandates, from preparation and marketing through to negotiation and completion.
- Manage day-to-day client relationships and act as the senior point of contact for vendors, acquirers and their advisers.
- Direct deal teams, reviewing valuations, information memoranda and financial models for accuracy and commercial sense.
- Build an origination footprint across corporates, the broad UK private equity market and professional intermediaries.
- Advise on deal structure, SPA mechanics, completion accounts and earn-outs in concert with legal and tax advisers.
- Navigate public-market situations under the UK Takeover Code, working with the Panel where transactions involve listed companies.
- Mentor managers and analysts and contribute to the development of the corporate finance practice.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- ICAEW (ACA), ACCA or CFA, with a strong academic background in finance, accounting or economics.
- Eight or more years in M&A advisory, investment banking or corporate finance, including time at Director or senior Manager level.
- Proven execution record across UK mid-market transactions through to completion.
- Fluency in the LSE and AIM environment and the role of the sponsor and Nomad in public transactions.
- Working knowledge of the UK Takeover Code and the FCA regulatory perimeter relevant to corporate finance.
- Authoritative command of valuation under DCF, comparables and LBO frameworks.
- Strong grasp of SPA mechanics, net debt, working capital and completion accounts.
- Established relationships across the UK private equity and intermediary community.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with the credibility to lead negotiations.
- A track record of developing junior advisory talent.
Preferred Experience:
- An emerging personal pipeline of origination opportunities.
- Sector specialisation in technology, business services, consumer, healthcare or industrials.
- Experience of cross-border transactions connecting the UK with Europe, North America or Asia.
- Exposure to public-to-private and AIM takeover situations.
- Prior experience within a recognised global accounting-firm deals practice.
- Familiarity with debt advisory and the structuring of acquisition finance.
Compensation:
Competitive package commensurate with seniority and experience, including base, performance-based bonus, long-term incentives and (where applicable) partner-track participation.
