Regulatory Compliance Director - London
Job Description:
CharteredPartners is seeking an experienced regulatory compliance professional to join our client in London at Director level. The successful candidate will lead regulatory compliance advisory delivery, guide clients through supervisory change and remediation, and contribute to origination across banking, asset management and insurance. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead regulatory compliance advisory engagements across FCA and PRA-regulated firms, including authorisations, remediation and skilled-person work.
- Advise clients on the Senior Managers and Certification Regime, including responsibilities mapping, statements of responsibilities and conduct rules.
- Direct operational resilience programmes aligned to FCA and PRA expectations, including important business services and impact tolerances.
- Guide boards and compliance functions on governance expectations under the UK Corporate Governance Code and FRC stewardship requirements.
- Oversee compliance monitoring frameworks, conduct risk assessments and regulatory change management.
- Originate and convert new engagements, building relationships with heads of compliance, general counsel and risk committees.
- Develop managers and senior consultants and contribute to the firm's regulatory thought leadership.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- A recognised professional credential such as ICAEW, ACCA, CIA, a compliance diploma or a relevant legal qualification.
- At least ten to twelve years in regulatory compliance, including senior delivery within a professional services firm, a regulator or a regulated institution.
- Strong command of the FCA and PRA rulebooks and supervisory approach.
- Detailed knowledge of the Senior Managers and Certification Regime and conduct expectations.
- Practical experience of operational resilience requirements for UK financial services.
- Familiarity with the three lines model and the integration of compliance and internal audit.
- Working knowledge of UK GDPR obligations as they intersect with conduct and governance.
- A record of leading teams and managing concurrent engagements to budget and quality.
- Excellent written and spoken English and the credibility to advise boards and regulators.
Preferred Experience:
- Exposure to SOX and ICFR delivery for US-listed groups with UK operations.
- Experience of section 166 skilled-person reviews or enforcement-driven remediation.
- Familiarity with financial crime, anti-money-laundering and sanctions frameworks.
- A track record of origination or material business development contribution.
- Active standing within the IIA UK, ICAEW or the regulatory compliance community.
- Experience deploying regulatory technology and monitoring tooling into client functions.
Compensation:
Competitive package commensurate with seniority and experience, including base, performance-based bonus, long-term incentives and (where applicable) partner-track participation.
