Job Description:
CharteredPartners is seeking a Tax Partner to lead and grow a corporate tax practice within a leading accounting firm in London. The successful candidate will hold full origination responsibility, owning a personal client and revenue portfolio, signing tax opinions and providing strategic leadership across the tax function. This is a senior appointment combining business development, profit-and-loss accountability and technical authority across UK corporation tax, the international tax agenda and HMRC engagement. Key Responsibilities:
- Originate new business, building and converting a pipeline of corporate and multinational tax clients across the UK and internationally.
- Hold profit-and-loss accountability for the practice, managing revenue, margin, billing and resource planning.
- Sign tax opinions and assume ultimate technical responsibility for advice on UK corporation tax and cross-border matters.
- Provide strategic leadership to the tax team, setting direction, standards and quality benchmarks.
- Advise clients on the 25% corporation tax regime, VAT at 20% and the practical application of HMRC rules.
- Lead on transfer pricing, diverted profits, R&D relief and Pillar Two multinational top-up tax obligations.
- Act as a trusted adviser to boards and senior stakeholders on structuring, HMRC engagement and IR35 matters.
- Develop senior managers and directors, building bench strength and succession within the practice.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- A recognised professional qualification, with ICAEW membership and / or Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) status strongly preferred.
- Extensive post-qualification experience in UK corporate and international tax, including a sustained period at director or partner level.
- A demonstrable record of business origination and the development of a personal client following.
- Authoritative command of UK corporation tax at 25% and VAT at 20%.
- Deep understanding of transfer pricing, diverted profits tax and R&D relief.
- Strong working knowledge of Pillar Two multinational top-up tax and its UK implementation.
- Proven experience signing tax opinions and carrying ultimate technical responsibility.
- Established relationships across the UK and international business community.
- Profit-and-loss leadership experience, with the commercial acuity to manage a practice.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder-management skills at board level.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience advising multinational groups headquartered in or operating through the UK.
- Familiarity with HMRC enquiries, clearances and dispute resolution.
- Exposure to mergers, acquisitions and group reorganisations with significant tax complexity.
- A track record of building and leading high-performing tax teams.
- Involvement in thought leadership, industry forums or professional bodies.
- Experience advising on IR35 and employment-tax interactions.
Compensation:
Competitive package commensurate with seniority and experience, including base, performance-based bonus, long-term incentives and (where applicable) partner-track participation.
