Audit Senior Manager - Sydney
Job Description:
CharteredPartners is seeking an Audit Senior Manager to manage assurance engagements end-to-end within a practice in Sydney. This is an operational delivery role with day-to-day responsibility for planning, executing and completing audits under the Australian Auditing Standards. You will be the principal client contact on your engagements, supervise audit teams in the field, and prepare files for director and partner review. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage audit engagements end-to-end under the Australian Auditing Standards, from planning and risk assessment through fieldwork to completion.
- Serve as the principal day-to-day client contact, coordinating deliverables, resolving queries and managing the audit timetable.
- Supervise, review and develop managers, seniors and graduates on the engagement team.
- Apply AASB accounting standards in practice, reviewing complex areas such as revenue recognition, leases and impairment.
- Prepare audit files to the required standard and ready them for director and partner sign-off.
- Draft audit reports, management letters and reporting deliverables for listed and private clients.
- Manage engagement budgets, recovery and billing, escalating issues to the engagement director.
- Support compliance with the Corporations Act 2001 and ASIC independence and acceptance procedures.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Membership of CA ANZ or CPA Australia.
- Strong working knowledge of the Australian Auditing Standards and AASB accounting standards.
- Several years of external audit experience, including time at manager grade in a practice environment.
- Experience auditing listed and large private entities under the Corporations Act 2001.
- Familiarity with ASIC reporting and independence requirements.
- Proven ability to manage concurrent engagements to deadline and budget.
- Demonstrated supervisory and file-review skills, with a focus on quality.
- Confident written and verbal communication with clients and senior management.
- Sound professional ethics and a clear understanding of auditor independence.
- Strong organisational and team-coordination capability.
Preferred Experience:
- Big Four or established mid-tier training and post-qualification experience in Australia.
- Exposure to APRA-regulated entities or other regulated industries.
- Sector focus in financial services, resources, infrastructure or technology.
- Experience with group audits and coordination of component teams.
- Working familiarity with data-enabled audit tools and analytics.
- Exposure to ASIC audit inspection processes.
Compensation:
Competitive package commensurate with seniority and experience, including base, performance-based bonus, long-term incentives and (where applicable) partner-track participation.
