Senior Staff Accountant
Remote - Pacific Northwest (WA, OR, ID)
Seattle Search Group is partnering with a well-established professional services organization to identify a Senior Staff Accountant. This role is ideal for an experienced accountant who enjoys a mix of financial reporting, project accounting, technical accounting, and partnering with operational leaders. You'll play a key role in maintaining the integrity of the financials while helping drive process improvements and supporting business growth.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activity.
- Analyze financial results and investigate account variances.
- Support project accounting, client billing, and revenue recognition.
- Assist with payroll, banking, cash management, and credit card administration.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
- Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Prepare sales and use tax filings.
- Coordinate annual audits and support external auditors.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Recommend and implement process improvements and strengthen internal controls.
- Assist with ERP system enhancements and accounting process optimization.
- Mentor junior accounting staff and collaborate with operational leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong experience with month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
- Project accounting or professional services accounting experience strongly preferred.
- CPA or progress toward a CPA is a plus.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience working with ERP systems.
