Job Description:
TITLE: Manager, SOX Compliance & Internal Controls
LOCATION: REMOTE
POSITION SUMMARY
This role leads the company's SOX 404 compliance program and internal controls environment. The Manager will oversee control design, testing, and remediation efforts while partnering across finance, accounting, and operations to ensure a strong and scalable control framework.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead execution of the SOX 404 program, including planning, scoping, and risk assessment
Oversee design, documentation, and maintenance of internal controls over financial reporting
Manage walkthroughs, control testing, and evaluation of control effectiveness
Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external auditors to support SOX compliance efforts
Identify control gaps and drive remediation efforts with process owners
Ensure timely completion of testing cycles and deliverables
Support process improvements and standardization of controls across the organization
Assist in the implementation of new controls related to system changes, acquisitions, or evolving business processes
Maintain and update SOX documentation, including narratives, flowcharts, and control matrices
Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and ensure ongoing compliance
Partner with accounting and finance teams to align controls with operational processes
Support audit requests and assist with internal and external audit coordination
Contribute to special projects and broader finance initiatives as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA or equivalent certification preferred
5+ years of experience in SOX compliance, internal audit, or public accounting
Strong understanding of SOX 404 requirements and internal control frameworks (COSO)
Experience working in a publicly traded company environment preferred
Knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting processes
Experience with control documentation, testing, and remediation
Strong organizational and project management skills
Ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet deadlines
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
