About the Opportunity
Search Group Solutions is partnering with a respected professional services firm in Lafayette, Louisiana that has an immediate need for a Legal Secretary to support its transactional practice.
This is an on-site role supporting attorneys and administrative teams in a fast-paced environment. While prior legal secretarial experience is strongly preferred, the firm is open to training motivated candidates due to the urgency of the hire.
Position Summary
The Legal Secretary will provide administrative and document support to attorneys handling business and transactional matters. This role is responsible for maintaining files, preparing and editing legal documents, managing calendars, and supporting daily office operations.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-focused, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven setting.
Compensation & Schedule
Salary Range: $53,000 – $59,000, depending on experience
Work Arrangement: 100% On-Site (Lafayette office)
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, edit, format, and proofread legal and transactional documents
Compile documentation for business and loan closing transactions
Maintain electronic and physical client files in accordance with firm procedures
Enter conflict checks and manage file openings and closures
Support attorney time entry, billing coordination, and expense reporting
Assist with calendar management, meeting coordination, and travel scheduling
Utilize document management, redlining, and timekeeping systems
Perform accurate document revisions, redactions, and exhibit preparation
Communicate with internal teams to support workflow and client service
Provide general office support, including mail handling, conference room setup, onboarding assistance, and facilities coordination
Qualifications and Experience
2–3 years of administrative or secretarial experience in a legal setting preferred
Transactional legal support experience strongly preferred
Exposure to title insurance and real estate matters is a plus
Experience supporting loan closings and business transactions preferred
Advanced document editing, formatting, and proofreading skills
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
Ability to learn and adapt to firm-specific software and systems
Strong organizational and time management skills
Professional written and verbal communication abilities
Work Environment
