Position Overview
The Lead Hand / Lead Carpenter plays a hands‑on leadership role on custom homebuilding projects. This position is ideal for an experienced residential carpenter who can lead by example—coordinating daily work, maintaining jobsite organization, and performing high‑quality rough and finish carpentry.
You will serve as a key on‑site leader, supporting quality, schedule, workflow coordination, and craftsmanship while still working with tools and completing carpentry tasks yourself.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
- Hands‑on carpentry — Perform and lead rough and finish carpentry on residential construction projects.
- Daily task planning — Plan daily tasks, assign work, and keep the crew aligned with priorities.
- Reading plans — Interpret residential plans and specifications to execute framing and finish details accurately.
- Carpentry scopes — Complete and oversee framing, blocking, trim/finish work, punch‑list carpentry, and field problem‑solving.
- Trade coordination — Coordinate with subcontractors and other trades to maintain workflow and prevent rework.
- Jobsite organization — Maintain jobsite organization, material staging, and basic inventory awareness.
- Quality control — Catch issues early, protect finished work, and ensure clean, professional results.
- Safety enforcement — Promote and enforce jobsite safety and tool safety.
- Communication — Communicate progress, constraints, and field needs clearly to leadership.
What We're Looking For (Requirements)
- Residential carpentry experience — Proven background as a carpenter, lead carpenter, or lead hand (custom homes preferred).
- Framing & finish skills — Strong working knowledge of both rough and finish carpentry.
- Crew leadership — Ability to lead a small crew, assign tasks, and hold team members accountable.
- Plan reading & measurement — Ability to read plans, take accurate measurements, and execute work precisely.
- Jobsite judgment — Proactive problem‑solving, quality mindset, and ability to keep work moving.
- Professional communication — Reliable communication and ability to work closely with ownership.
