Background: Shelter for Life International (SFL) is an international relief and development organization with 40 years of experience in providing sustainable development and humanitarian assistance to countries around the world.

SFL opened its office in Afghanistan in the year of 1998, funded by multiple donors such as BPRM, USG, USDA and WFP. SFL has a rich experience and provides assistance to the following areas; Agriculture Development, Food Security, livelihood and emergency, shelter and population settlement, microcredit, infrastructure development, health and nutrition.

Job Summary: The Solar Cooker technician is responsible for training beneficiaries on the principles and types of solar cookers, designing and installing solar cookers in optimal locations by considering sun orientation, and ensuring proper operation and maintenance. The role involves conducting technical inspections, repairing components, and installing glass panels and reflectors. Additionally, the technician collaborates with the project team to deliver practical demonstrations and facilitate the distribution of solar cookers, ensuring environmental standards and efficient functionality.

Key Responsibility: Training the beneficiaries to understand the working concepts and types of solar cookers

Measuring, designing, and fixing solar cookers according to technical and environmental standards

Installing and properly adjusting solar cookers in appropriate locations, considering sun orientation.

Educating beneficiaries on proper operation, usage, and daily maintenance of solar cookers

Conducting regular technical inspections to ensure correct functioning of solar devices

Repairing and replacing parts, glass, or reflectors when necessary.

Proficiency in installing solar cooker glass panels and all related components.

Collaborating with the project team in practical demonstrations and distribution of solar cookers

Qualification/Requirements: A primary school graduate, with a preference for those who have completed 12th grade high school.

Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in the field of solar and electrical systems.

Skills in training and mentoring beneficiaries in both theoretical and practical.

Good knowledge and familiarity with electrical and solar energy systems

Physical fitness and ability to work in different environments (urban and rural areas)

Honesty, punctuality, and strong teamwork spirit

High attention to detail, effective time management skills and strong work ethic.

Excellent spoken in Dari and Pashto languages.
