About the job Mechanical Technician
1. Safety Culture. a) Follow HSSE and Quality policies and procedures, and ensure that all HSSE measures and precautions are strictly considered and taken care of during the execution of maintenance activities to avoid any activity which might lead to Health Safety and Environment incidents / non conformities. b) Perform all mechanical related maintenance work strictly as per the Shams PTW procedures. c) Enforce good housekeeping in the mechanical workshop and ensure the mechanical workshop and mechanical tools are well maintained. d) Ensure all contractors working under the mechanical PTW follows the safety regulations and procedures at Shams. 2. Plant Reliability. a) Ensure at all times the Quality, Reliability, Availability and Maintainability of Shams Power Plant by following existing procedures and to review the existing procedures. b) Follow all mechanical maintenance plans, procedures and schedules to ensure the reliability of mechanical equipment. c) Report any shortfall of critical or any required spare parts to te mechanical supervisor or lead engineer. d) Forward any recommendations to improve the reliability of the plant to the mechanical supervisor or lead engineer. 3. Maintenance. 1. Take ownership of the mechanical equipment and strive to reduce equipment downtime and ensure a high level of plant availability. 2. Execute day to day preventative and corrective maintenance activities as scheduled by the supervisor, lead engineer and PSW team. 3. Safely perform troubleshooting activities as required along with the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance colleagues and Operations, to determine the root cause of failures and propose remedies too safely and cost effectively eliminate failures in the future. 4. Maintain a high level of quality work and strive to have zero re-work 5. Ensure that all contractors perform all maintenance activities under a valid permit to work and that they understand the risks related to the work. Perform Toolbox talk for each job. 6. Ensure that all contractors have a clear understanding of the scope of work and related method statements and procedures. 7. Ensure all contractors have all required tools, lifting equipment and PPE to perform the work safely and within the set quality standards. 8. Record all actuals in Maximo (manpower, spare parts, duration and technical detail) at the completion of each work order. 9. Strive to perform all work in-house and contract only required work out to contractors. 10. Assists the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor in preparing and scheduling daily jobs and long term mechanical maintenance activities during the outage planning. 11. Participate in Plant scheduled shutdowns and turnarounds. 12. Perform emergency related activities after hours as required from time to time. 13. Perform other activities as defined by the mechanical supervisor and lead engineer.
