Food Safety Officer - Part Time

Sharper Consulting Services are seeking an are seeking an Environmental Health Officer in Derbyshire on a part time basis working in their Food Safety Safety team.

The role will focus on completing lower-risk programmed inspections, processing new registrations, and supporting the team with complaint work and skin-piercing registrations.

Circa 10-15 hours per week

£40-£45 per hour

Initial 2 month contract with potential to extend

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertake food hygiene inspections of Category C-E premises in accordance with the Food Law Code of Practice.
• Investigate food and health & safety complaints as required.
• Process new food business registrations and skin-piercing applications.
• Carry out follow-up visits and ensure appropriate enforcement action where necessary.
• Maintain accurate records and reports using the Councils database/system.
• Liaise effectively with local businesses, colleagues, and partner agencies to promote compliance.

Requirements:

• Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health and EHRB/CIEH registration (or equivalent).
• Competent and authorised to carry out food hygiene inspections (C-E categories).
• Experience of complaint investigation and skin-piercing registration work.
• Strong understanding of relevant legislation and the Food Law Code of Practice.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
• Ability to manage workload independently within a part-time schedule.

Desirable:

• Previous experience working within a local authority food team.
• Familiarity with Civica, IDOX, or similar back-office systems.
