About the job Construction Junior Manager

Job Title: Construction Junior Manager

Company: EarthEnable

Reports To: Managing Director

Location: Jinja, Uganda (with regular travel to operational districts)

About EarthEnable:

EarthEnable is transforming how people live by making homes healthier for families across rural Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda and helping to reduce the polluting impact of the building industry on the environment. Most Ugandans live in homes with dirt floors that are dusty, unsanitary, and fertile breeding grounds for parasites and germs. While replacing a dirt floor with concrete has significant health benefits (e.g., reducing diarrhea by 50% and parasitic infections by 80%), concrete is unaffordable for many who need it and is a huge contributor to global pollution.

To counter the environmental and affordability issues surrounding concrete, EarthEnable has spent the past 8+ years developing and selling high-quality, earthen floors and plasters that are 80% cheaper than concrete with 90% less embodied energy.

About the Role

EarthEnable is seeking a Construction Manager to lead its Uganda construction operations. As the most senior construction leader in the country, the Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing all field activities, managing a growing team, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, affordable homes at scale.

This is a high-impact role for someone who combines technical know-how with exceptional leadership and operational skills. Youll set the standard for excellence across our construction work, build systems for scale, and serve as the bridge between strategy and execution on the ground.

  • Conduct performance reviews and provide input on promotions, terminations, or disciplinary actions.
  • Train and mentor team members to maintain EarthEnable's quality and professionalism standards.
  • Lead weekly construction team meetings and participate in monthly planning sessions.

3. Resource and Materials Oversight

  • Forecast, order, and track construction materials such as marram, varnish, clay, and paste.
  • Manage delivery, usage, and storage of materials across sites.
  • Collaborate with the Operations team to reconcile usage reports and resolve discrepancies.
  • Address supplier issues and suggest reliable, cost-effective vendors when needed.

4. Quality Assurance & Customer Satisfaction

  • Oversee the implementation of EarthEnable's QA protocols at all build stages.
  • Use client feedback reports to inform corrective actions and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Investigate complaints related to construction quality or delays and follow up to resolution.

5. Interdepartmental Collaboration

  • Coordinate with Sales, QA, Finance, Training, and Operations to ensure timely data, training, and resource alignment.
  • Identify and report misalignments between field delivery and client expectations.
  • Submit monthly reports including metrics, client satisfaction scores, and areas for improvement.

6. Strategic and Administrative Leadership

  • Represent the Construction Department in management-level meetings.
  • Contribute to quarterly OKRs and lead progress reporting through dashboards.
  • Identify system bottlenecks, training gaps, and workflow inefficiencies; recommend improvements.
  • Serve as Acting Head of Construction when requested.
