REGISTERED NURSE
South Hill Medical Clinic in Moose Jaw, SK is seeking a Temporary Part-Time Registered Nurse. Reporting to the Physician Leads, the Registered Nurse will be responsible for delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care in a primary care setting, including assessments, triage, clinical interventions, chronic disease management, and preventive health services.
If you have a minimum of 1–2 years of frontline clinical nursing experience, preferably in primary health care or family practice, then this job is for you! This position is part of a newly developed Innovation Fund between the Saskatchewan Government and medical clinics in Saskatchewan; therefore, this position is temporary until March 31, 2027, with the possibility of extension.
Responsibilities:
- Create and revise protocols/work standards related to the position in collaboration with the Physician Lead/s.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical observations, history-taking, and risk factor identification.
- Perform triage functions by prioritizing patients based on acuity, both in-person and via telephone, applying established clinical guidelines.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team in case management, care coordination, and patient follow-up.
- Initiate and perform clinical interventions, including medication administration, immunizations, wound care, phlebotomy, and diagnostic specimen collection as per established clinic protocols.
- Assist providers with minor procedures, diagnostic examinations, and treatments within the scope of practice.
- Implement and monitor chronic disease management plans (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, COPD, asthma) as per developed clinical protocols.
- Provide preventive health services, including immunization, communicable disease screening, and health promotion counselling.
- Patient Education: Lifestyle factors related to prediabetes diagnosis and elevated cholesterol, Wound care, Immunizations, STI screening
- Maintain meticulous and timely documentation in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system and engage in ongoing education as EMR technology develops.
- Apply knowledge of emergency nursing and public health protocols to enhance care delivery in a primary care setting.
- Enforce infection prevention and control (IPAC) standards in all clinical encounters.
- Team huddle board communication -Daily Visual management
- Participation in Quality Improvement projects
Qualifications:
- Current registration and good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or equivalent degree in nursing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support [ACLS] an asset).
- Minimum 1–2 years of frontline clinical nursing experience is essential.
- Demonstrated competence in triage, clinical assessment, and acute care management.
- Previous experience in emergency nursing (preferred) and/or public health nursing (asset).
- Strong knowledge of primary care protocols, chronic disease management, and preventive medicine practices.
- Proficiency with clinical documentation and EMR systems (Accuro or equivalent).
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
- Demonstrated ability to build therapeutic relationships with patients and families; a compassionate, approachable, and people-centered professional.
