Human Resources Generalist
SIEL Human Solutions on behalf of our client is looking to hire a Full Time Human Resources Generalist.
Our client, located in Regina, SK is an economic development corporation of Pasqua First Nation and has been in operation for over 35 years and is one of the only First Nations-wholly owned manufacturing enterprises in Canada, and one of only a few First Nations-100% owned military suppliers. 100% owned by Pasqua First Nation, our client offers plasma, laser and waterjet cutting, CWB and AWS Welding, CNC machining and Powder Coating. The HR Generalist will provide support on various HR functions within the company including recruitment, onboarding and orientation, training, employee relations, benefits administration and payroll. The candidate will obtain their designated official certification and be responsible for administering the staff security clearances. Our client will sponsor the candidate on this after employment has begun. The HR Generalist will implement HR policies, procedures and programs, while collaborating with management on a variety of HR tasks and outcomes. The ideal candidate will embrace technology and embrace using electronic data systems for automation and file organization.
As an HR Generalist, you will play a key role in advancing the companies commitment to Indigenous inclusion by supporting Management with culturally informed recruitment, retention, and employee development strategies. This includes fostering respectful workplace practices, promoting cultural awareness training, and collaborating with Indigenous communities and partners. You will help implement learning initiatives that reflect Indigenous knowledge systems and support employee growth through mentorship, on-the-job training, and educational opportunities. Your work will contribute to building a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects the values and aspirations of the Pasqua First Nation.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee onboarding and orientation for new staff that have been hired.
- Manage employee attendance and leave records, including vacation tracking and accurate payroll reporting and reconciliation.
- Responsible for employee relations which includes addressing employee issues, conducting investigations and managing employee and management relations.
- Responsible for benefit program administration for all staff (health, LTD, RRSP, including enrollment, claims and monthly reconciliations), ensuring compliance with applicable legislation.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential employee records.
- Oversee performance management, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
- Provides guidance to managers and supervisors on HR policies and procedures and best practices, while ensuring sensitive matters are handled with confidence and discretion.
- Acts as a trusted resource, promoting positive employee relations, communication and organizational development initiatives.
- Coordinates communication across the organization related to key HR functions
- Schedules, coordinates and tracks all training across the organization, ensuring staff are in compliance with required mandatory training and certifications.
- Responsible for the coordination and arranging of PPE for staff.
- Contribute to key HR projects and champion continuous improvement in processes, culture, and policy implementation.
- Maintain required system updates and support employees and managers with the handling of hires/terminations, benefit changes, and responding to payroll and benefits inquiries.
- Manages occupational and non-occupational injury claims, including WSIB filing and return-to-work planning.
- Assists the Joint Health and Safety Committee with a safety-first workplace culture.
- Protect the organizations value by keeping all protected and proprietary information confidential.
- Keep personal job knowledge up to date by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations.
- Always maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the company in a positive manner.
- Proactively contributes to creating a good team atmosphere.
Qualifications:
- A university degree in business administration, commerce, or other relevant disciplines.
- Minimum of 5 years experience as a well-rounded Human Resources Generalist in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with Human Resources Information System (HRIS), Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and Payroll Systems.
- Experience with benefit administration for both hourly and salaried employees
- Experience with a range of HR tasks related to recruitment, performance management, employee engagement, learning and development, talent management, compensation, disability management and health and safety initiatives.
- Strong knowledge in employment and payroll legislation.
- Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills, with a proven ability to format and draft correspondence, forms, reports, presentations, and proposals.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Self-motivated and flexible professional with strong decision-making skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to independently plan, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct business with integrity, confidentiality, and accountability, while effectively multitasking under pressure and driven by continuous improvement.
- Ability to identify measures of performance and actions needed to improve performance to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and use time effectively to set action plans to achieve business targets.
- Must hold Canadian Citizenship and have a clean criminal record. Must be able to pass a security clearance.
- Proficiency with MS Office Applications
