About the job Certified Water and Wastewater Operator -Level 2
Siel Human Solutions, on behalf of our client is seeking 2 Full Time motivated Certified Water and Wastewater Operator – Level 2 to join their Operations team. This skilled technical role is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and monitoring of a town's water treatment, water distribution, wastewater treatment, and wastewater collection systems. The operator ensure compliance with provincial regulations while delivering reliable and sustainable municipal utility services to the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, monitor, and maintain water and wastewater treatment, distribution, and collection systems.
- Conduct advanced sampling, testing, and chemical dosing to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Oversee SCADA systems, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance.
- Lead or assist with infrastructure projects, system upgrades, and major repairs.
- Ensure compliance documentation, reports, and records are accurate and submitted on time.
- Respond to system alarms, utility service calls, and after-hours emergencies (on call rotation).
- Mentor and train junior operators and lead small project or field teams.
- Liaise with contractors, regulatory bodies, and consultants during inspections, audits, and projects.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Grade 12 or GED.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with clean abstract (Class 3A preferred).
- RCMP security clearance (criminal record check).
- Valid Saskatchewan Level 2 Certification in at least one category: Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection, or Water Treatment (progression requires additional certifications).
- 2-5 years of municipal water and wastewater operations experience.
- Strong knowledge of SCADA systems, water quality testing, and chemical dosing.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Physical ability to perform heavy work, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces.
- WHMIS 2015, First Aid/CPR-C, Confined Space Entry (or willingness to obtain).
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and respond to emergencies as required.
Progression & Training:
This role provides opportunities for progression through additional Level 2 certifications in Water Distribution, Wastewater Collection, and Water Treatment. As certifications are achieved, responsibilities expand to include greater technical problem-solving, leadership, project management, and regulatory liaison duties.
