Cornerstone Medical Clinic is seeking a temporary full-time Registered Nurse. Reporting to the Supervising Physician, you will support a busy family medicine and women's health practice by coordinating patient care, delivering chronic disease management, administering immunizations and point-of-care testing, providing focused counselling, and ensuring structured follow-up to improve outcomes and clinic flow. The role also includes triage, routine test-result communication, early pregnancy support, and preventive/genetic counselling.

This position may be split into two part-time roles (depending on operational requirements). Candidates should indicate if they are open to part-time or job-share arrangements.

This position is part of a newly developed Innovation Fund between the Saskatchewan Government and medical clinics across Saskatchewan with the aim of improving patient access and quality care through team-based support, that will deliver better access to primary care in the province of Saskatchewan. This position is temporary until March 31, 2027, with the possibility of an extension.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Chronic Disease Management visits for diabetes, hypertension, COPD, and other long-term conditions.
  • Provide injections including immunizations, winrho, vitamin B12 and testosterone.
  • Perform certain procedures such as routine pap smears and removal of sutures
  • Contact patients to communicate and review routine or low-risk test results, including but not limited to STIs, low to moderate cholesterol, osteoporosis or low bone density, low iron, and INR results.
  • Provide patient education and documentation of result communication in the patient record. Monitor side effects and identify issues requiring physician review.
  • Triage, manage clinical phone calls and follow-up phone calls for GLP-1 agonist management, hypertension and ADHD, redirecting of escalating issues to physicians as required.
  • Follow up with select patients that would benefit from additional check ins to monitor well-being and response to treatment.
  • Coordinate referrals, arrange investigations, and support continuity of care across the team.
  • Assist with mental health and cognitive assessments
  • Provide focused counselling for conditions such as hyperlipidemia, prediabetes, and weight management.
  • Assist with early pregnancy care including confirmation of pregnancy and support during the first prenatal visit.
  • Assist with forms including STI notification, disability tax credit applications and insurance forms
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the clinic EMR.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance access, patient education, and efficient use of RN expertise.

Qualifications:

  • Current registration and good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS), or College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRPNS)
  • Completion of an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent. Will consider a Registered Psychiatric Nurse with relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of primary care or ambulatory clinic settings, chronic disease management, immunizations, and basic procedures as per CRNS guidelines and employer-approved protocols.
  • Certified or eligible for RN Specialty Practices (e.g., INR Management, STI treatment, PAP Smears) as per CRNS guidelines and employer-approved protocols.
  • Familiar with standard office software, EMR systems (e.g., Accuro or equivalent), including documentation, lab review, and medication reconciliation.
  • Strong clinical judgement, interpersonal communication, and ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong telephone triage skills, patient education and counseling experience and ability to communicate test results clearly and compassionately.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, manage caseloads, and maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • CPR certification (Basic Life Support – BLS).
  • Experience in community health, case management, or a Primary Health Care setting is considered an asset.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to evidence-based practices.
