ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client, a reputable financial institution, is seeking a technically competent and service-oriented Information Technology (IT) Officer to support the organisation's technology infrastructure, systems, users, and digital banking operations.

The successful candidate will provide first-level technical support, maintain IT hardware and software, support network infrastructure, administer user access, and provide operational support for the BankOne Core Banking Application.

The role requires a hands-on IT professional with strong troubleshooting capabilities and practical experience within a banking or financial services environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

IT Support & Service Management

  • Provide first-level technical support to staff across the Bank's Head Office and branches.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, network, and system-related issues promptly.
  • Respond to IT service requests and ensure timely resolution of incidents.
  • Maintain proper documentation of IT incidents, resolutions, and service requests.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to the Head of IT or relevant technology service providers where required.

BankOne Core Banking Application Support

  • Provide first-level support to users of the BankOne Core Banking Application.
  • Assist users with system access, functionality, and operational issues.
  • Monitor application performance and promptly escalate system-related incidents.
  • Support user onboarding, access provisioning, and deactivation in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Liaise with the BankOne support team and relevant vendors to resolve application issues.
  • Support system updates, configuration changes, testing, and implementation activities as assigned.

IT Infrastructure & Network Management

  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, printers, network devices, and other IT equipment.
  • Support the maintenance and monitoring of the Bank's LAN, WAN, internet connectivity, and other network infrastructure.
  • Monitor system performance and identify potential infrastructure issues before they affect business operations.
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventive checks on IT equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of IT assets and equipment.

User Account & Access Management

  • Create, modify, and deactivate user accounts in line with approved access-control procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate user access rights and privileges across relevant systems.
  • Support password management, authentication, and access-related issues.
  • Ensure user access is aligned with job responsibilities and internal security policies.
  • Report unusual access activities or potential security incidents to the Head of IT.

Cybersecurity & Data Protection

  • Support the implementation of the Bank's information security and cybersecurity controls.
  • Monitor systems for potential security threats and report incidents promptly.
  • Ensure endpoint devices have appropriate security controls, updates, and protection.
  • Support compliance with internal IT security policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Promote cybersecurity awareness and safe technology practices among employees.

Backup & Recovery

  • Perform and monitor routine data backup activities.
  • Verify the integrity and availability of backups.
  • Support data restoration and recovery procedures when required.
  • Maintain appropriate records of backup activities and report backup failures promptly.
  • Support the implementation of the Bank's disaster recovery procedures.

Digital Banking & Electronic Channels

  • Provide technical support for the Bank's electronic banking channels and digital platforms.
  • Monitor reported issues affecting digital banking services and coordinate appropriate resolution.
  • Support integration and connectivity between relevant technology platforms.
  • Escalate service interruptions or critical digital banking incidents promptly.

IT Audit & Regulatory Support

  • Support internal and external IT audits and technology assessments.
  • Provide relevant IT documentation, records, and evidence as requested during audits.
  • Support regulatory examinations and compliance reviews.
  • Ensure IT activities are conducted in accordance with approved policies, procedures, and security standards.
  • Assist in implementing recommendations arising from IT audits and assessments.

Vendor & Technical Support

  • Liaise with approved IT vendors and service providers to resolve technical issues.
  • Monitor vendor service delivery and escalate unresolved issues.
  • Support installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities performed by external service providers.
  • Maintain appropriate records of vendor interventions and technical support activities.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

Performance will be measured against:

  • Timely resolution of IT incidents and user support requests.
  • High availability and reliability of IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Effective first-level support for the BankOne Core Banking Application.
  • Minimal disruption to banking and business operations due to IT-related issues.
  • Successful completion of scheduled backup and recovery activities.
  • Compliance with IT security policies and access-control procedures.
  • Accurate maintenance of IT asset and user-access records.
  • Effective support for digital banking channels.
  • Timely escalation and resolution of critical technical issues.
  • Positive internal user satisfaction with IT support services.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or HND in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant professional IT certifications will be an added advantage.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 2–4 years' relevant IT experience.
  • Experience within a Microfinance Bank, Commercial Bank, Fintech, or other financial institution is highly desirable.
  • Practical experience with the BankOne Core Banking Application is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical support in a corporate or financial services environment.

Professional Certifications

Certifications such as the following will be an added advantage:

  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • Microsoft Certifications
  • Other relevant IT infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, or systems certifications.
