Role Overview

We are seeking a visionary Founding Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to architect, build, and scale the ZenroxIQ platform from inception to market leadership.

This is a high-impact executive role offering full ownership of the technology strategy, engineering architecture, and product innovation roadmap. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the company's technical foundation, building a high-performing engineering team, and delivering scalable, secure, and AI-powered solutions for the healthcare sector.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy & Architecture

  • Define and execute the long-term technology vision, architecture, and roadmap for ZenroxIQ

  • Design and build a scalable, secure, and high-performance platform capable of supporting enterprise healthcare clients

  • Lead architectural decisions across cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and database design

AI & Product Innovation

  • Drive development of AI-enabled capabilities including visual search, intelligent pricing, and predictive procurement

  • Evaluate and implement AI integrations (e.g., OpenAI, Google Vision API) with clear build-vs-buy strategies

  • Ensure continuous innovation aligned with product and market needs

Platform Development & Engineering Excellence

  • Oversee development of core platform features including supplier matching, quote aggregation, and procurement workflows

  • Establish engineering best practices, coding standards, CI/CD pipelines, and development processes

  • Ensure delivery of high-quality, production-ready software within defined timelines

Security, Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure full compliance with GDPR, ISO 27001, and MHRA regulatory standards

  • Implement robust data protection, cybersecurity, and risk management frameworks

  • Maintain system integrity, reliability, and audit readiness

Team Leadership & Growth

  • Recruit, build, and lead a high-performing engineering team

  • Foster a strong engineering culture focused on innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement

  • Mentor and develop technical talent to support organisational growth

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Product, Operations, and Executive Leadership to align technology with business objectives

  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear strategic insights for stakeholders

  • Support go-to-market strategies and product scalability

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in senior technical leadership roles

  • Proven track record of building and scaling B2B platforms, marketplaces, or e-commerce systems

  • Strong expertise in API integrations, microservices architecture, and distributed systems

  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML technologies and cloud-based AI integrations

  • Deep understanding of scalable system design, cloud infrastructure, and modern databases

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver robust, production-grade solutions in fast-paced environments

Preferred / Advantageous Experience

  • Experience within healthcare, medtech, or regulated industries

  • Previous role as CTO, Head of Engineering, or Founding Engineer in a startup environment

  • Familiarity with WordPress, WooCommerce, or similar e-commerce frameworks

  • Understanding of procurement systems, supplier networks, and B2B transaction platforms

  • Knowledge of the UK healthcare landscape, including NHS procurement processes and MHRA compliance
