Role Overview

We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Pharmacist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for dispensing medications, providing professional patient counseling, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting daily pharmacy operations. The pharmacist will also collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize treatment outcomes while maintaining high standards of customer service and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Dispensing & Patient Care

  • Accurately dispense prescription and over-the-counter medications.

  • Verify prescriptions for accuracy, legality, and completeness.

  • Provide professional counseling to patients on medication use, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions.

  • Conduct medication therapy management (MTM) and follow-up consultations.

  • Deliver basic health services including immunizations, BP checks, blood sugar checks, and wellness counseling.

Clinical & Technical Duties

  • Review prescriptions for therapeutic compatibility and contraindications.

  • Document all clinical interventions in compliance with pharmacy standards.

  • Ensure safe storage, handling, and disposal of drugs, especially controlled substances.

Operational Management

  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain proper documentation, patient records, and financial records.

  • Manage pharmacy inventory: stock control, ordering, expiry monitoring, and product availability.

  • Supervise and guide pharmacy technicians and support staff.

  • Ensure the pharmacy environment meets safety, hygiene, and quality standards.

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with PCN, NAFDAC, and other regulatory bodies.

  • Maintain controlled drug registers and ensure adherence to statutory documentation.

  • Keep up-to-date with new drugs, regulations, and therapy guidelines.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Operational KPIs

  • Prescription Accuracy Rate: 98%+ accuracy with zero dispensing errors.

  • Customer Wait Time: Average dispensing/processing time under 10 minutes.

  • Inventory Accuracy: Stock variance not exceeding 3% monthly.

Customer Care KPIs

  • Patient Counseling Rate: Minimum 90% of patients receive counseling.

  • Customer Satisfaction Score: Minimum 85% positive patient feedback.

  • Return-Patient Rate: At least 75% repeat customer rate monthly.

Regulatory KPIs

  • Compliance Score: 100% adherence to PCN/NAFDAC standards.

  • Documentation Accuracy: Zero regulatory penalties for controlled drug handling.

Revenue & Business Growth KPIs

  • Support monthly revenue targets through effective product recommendations.

  • Maintain product availability with minimal stockouts (<5% monthly).

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) from an accredited institution.

  • Valid license from the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN).

  • 2 - 4 years of proven experience in retail or community pharmacy.

  • Strong knowledge of medications, drug interactions, and therapeutic classes.

  • Excellent communication, customer service, and counseling skills.

  • Ability to manage inventory and supervise pharmacy support staff.

  • Proficiency in pharmacy management systems is an added advantage.
