JOB SUMMARY

The Managing Director, Investment Banking is responsible for providing strategic leadership and executive direction for the Corporate Finance Division. The role focuses on originating, structuring, and executing innovative financial solutions that address clients' medium- to long-term funding and advisory needs.

The position covers capital markets transactions, project finance advisory, and structured finance deals while ensuring strong client relationship management, regulatory compliance, and sustainable revenue growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Strategic Leadership & Planning

  • Define, develop, and execute the overall strategy for the Corporate Finance Division.
  • Align departmental goals with the organization's long-term strategic objectives.
  • Drive innovation in financial structuring, capital solutions, and investment banking offerings.

2. Business Development & Deal Origination

  • Lead origination and execution of capital markets, project finance, and structured finance transactions.
  • Design and implement business development, marketing, and revenue growth strategies.
  • Identify and pursue new investment banking opportunities across target sectors.

3. Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain high-level relationships with corporates, institutional investors, and government agencies.
  • Deliver tailored financial advisory and capital-raising solutions.
  • Ensure exceptional client satisfaction and long-term relationship retention.

4. Institutional & Strategic Partnerships

  • Develop and manage relationships with Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), Export Credit Agencies (ECAs), and global financial partners.
  • Leverage partnerships to structure complex and syndicated financing transactions.

5. Operational & Regulatory Oversight

  • Oversee all divisional operations to ensure efficiency, profitability, and compliance.
  • Ensure timely submission of regulatory returns to relevant authorities (including SEC and other regulators).
  • Supervise and evaluate senior leadership teams across units.

6. Financial Performance & Accountability

  • Drive achievement of revenue targets, Profit Before Tax (PBT), and other key financial metrics.
  • Monitor cost efficiency and ensure optimal resource utilization.
  • Approve financial models, deal structures, and transaction documentation.

7. Talent Development & Mentorship

  • Provide executive leadership, coaching, and mentorship to senior management teams.
  • Drive succession planning and leadership development within the division.
  • Foster a high-performance and results-oriented culture.

KEY DUTIES / DAY-TO-DAY ACTIVITIES

  • Oversee origination, structuring, and execution of investment banking transactions.
  • Review and approve financial models, deal proposals, and investment memoranda.
  • Lead negotiations with clients, investors, and institutional partners.
  • Chair executive meetings, deal review sessions, and strategic planning forums.
  • Monitor deal pipelines, revenue performance, and business development activities.
  • Coordinate with legal, risk, compliance, and finance teams on transaction execution.
  • Ensure strict adherence to internal governance frameworks and regulatory requirements.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

  • Number of lead arranging mandates secured.
  • Value and volume of successfully executed transactions.
  • Growth in fees, commissions, and overall revenue generation.
  • Strength and quality of deal pipeline and institutional relationships (DFIs/ECAs).
  • Profitability performance (Revenue vs. Cost efficiency).
  • Client satisfaction and retention rates.
  • Staff development, retention, and leadership effectiveness.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Strong expertise in Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, and Capital Markets.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, valuation, and deal structuring.
  • Strong understanding of credit analysis, risk assessment, and due diligence processes.
  • Deep knowledge of financial regulations, SEC guidelines, and banking compliance frameworks.
  • Expertise in project finance structuring and syndicated lending arrangements.
  • Strong capability in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience: Minimum of 15 years in Corporate Finance, Investment Banking, or related financial services sector.
  • Education: Minimum of a Master's Degree or MBA in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Certification: Must be a SEC-registered sponsored individual.
  • Professional Attributes: High integrity, strong work ethic, and demonstrated executive leadership capability.
