Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced, performance-driven Pharmacy Operations Manager to oversee and coordinate the daily operations of a reputable pharmacy located in Abraham Adesanya, Ajah, Lagos. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient pharmacy workflows, strict regulatory compliance, effective people management, optimal inventory control, and superior patient care delivery.
This role requires a strong leader with sound pharmaceutical knowledge, operational excellence, and business acumen to drive efficiency, profitability, and service quality in line with Nigerian pharmaceutical standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Pharmacy Operations & Workflow Management

Oversee daily pharmacy operations to ensure safe, accurate, and efficient dispensing of medications.

Implement, monitor, and continuously improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Supervise prescription verification, dispensing accuracy, and patient counseling services.

Ensure optimal utilization of pharmacy automation and dispensing technologies where applicable.

Monitor prescription turnaround time and implement measures to improve service efficiency.
2. Regulatory Compliance & Safety

Ensure full compliance with Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) regulations and other applicable healthcare laws.

Conduct routine audits on controlled drugs, narcotics, and regulated medications.

Maintain accurate statutory documentation, licenses, and compliance records.

Enforce pharmaceutical ethics, safety protocols, and quality assurance standards.

Ensure adherence to infection prevention and patient safety guidelines.
3. Staff Leadership & Performance Management
-
Lead, supervise, and coordinate pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff.

Develop duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing levels at all times.

Conduct regular performance appraisals and implement staff development initiatives.

Provide coaching, mentoring, and disciplinary guidance where necessary.

Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and excellent customer service.
4. Inventory & Financial Management
-
Oversee procurement planning, inventory control, and stock management to prevent shortages and expiries.

Monitor drug utilization trends and ensure optimal inventory turnover.

Manage pharmacy budgets and monitor revenue, expenses, and profitability.

Implement cost-control measures and negotiate effectively with suppliers and vendors.

Ensure accurate stock documentation, reconciliation, and reporting.
5. Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement

Design and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and service delivery.

Monitor customer feedback and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Track operational KPIs and prepare management reports for decision-making.

Ensure continuous improvement in pharmacy service standards and operational efficiency.
6. Stakeholder & Customer Relationship Management

Collaborate with healthcare providers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to improve service delivery.

Professionally resolve customer complaints, medication issues, and service concerns.

Maintain strong patient relationships and promote health awareness initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Qualification
-
Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from a recognized institution.
Professional Certification
-
Mandatory registration with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) with a valid practicing license.
Experience
-
Minimum of 5 – 7 years post-qualification experience in pharmacy operations or pharmacy management.

Prior experience managing retail or hospital pharmacy operations is highly desirable.
