About the Hospital

Join a prestigious, JCI-accredited private tertiary hospital located in the heart of Victoria Island, Lagos. We specialize in critical care, cardiology, and emergency medicine, operating a modern, state-of-the-art facility. We are expanding our ICU capacity from 12 to 18 beds and are looking for highly experienced critical care professionals to join our team of 400+ staff. The Role

The Senior ICU Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality, complex nursing care to critically ill patients in our Intensive Care Unit. This role requires exceptional clinical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff while adhering to international standards of care.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Excellence:

  • Provide comprehensive, patient-centered care for critically ill patients across various specialties (Medical, Surgical, Cardiac ICU).
  • Expertly manage and monitor patients on specialized equipment, including mechanical ventilators, cardiac monitors, and infusion pumps.
  • Administer vasoactive drugs and perform advanced technical procedures, such as hemodynamic monitoring and IV therapy.
  • Lead rapid emergency response situations (e.g., Code Blue) with composure and clinical proficiency.
  • Ensure meticulous documentation and accurate use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR).

Leadership & Mentorship:

  • Act as a clinical resource and mentor for junior nurses, assisting with complex patient situations and skill development.
  • Contribute proactively to the development, review, and implementation of ICU protocols and quality improvement policies.
  • Demonstrate strong team collaboration and clear, effective communication with multidisciplinary teams (Physicians, Residents, and other Allied Health Professionals).

Operational Duties:

  • Adhere strictly to rotating shift patterns (Day/Night), including 12-hour shifts, weekends, and public holidays, to ensure 24/7 critical care coverage.
  • Maintain continuous compliance with the hospital's JCI accreditation standards.


Qualifications and Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Nigeria (or willingness to convert immediately).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience in a dedicated Intensive Care Unit/Critical Care setting.
  • Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification are mandatory.
  • Technical Skills: Proven competency in ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, and the use of specialized ICU equipment (monitors, infusion pumps).
  • Availability: Must be able to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.


Highly Desired Qualifications (Strong Plus)

  • 7+ years of progressive ICU experience.
  • ICU specialty certification (e.g., CCRN or equivalent).
  • Post-graduate degree (Master's) in Nursing or Critical Care.
  • Experience working in a JCI-accredited healthcare facility.
  • PALS certification.
  • Formal teaching or clinical mentorship experience.


Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary: 3,800,000 4,200,000 per annum
