Job Title: Litigation Paralegal (Insurance Defense)

Location: Tampa, FL (Onsite)

Overview

A well-established Tampa law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal with a background in insurance defense, ideally within medical malpractice and healthcare litigation. This role supports attorneys in a fast-paced environment handling complex matters from discovery through trial.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage case files and support attorneys across all phases of litigation
• Obtain, review, and manage client documents, including electronic data
• Conduct litigation, civil, and background research as needed
• Prepare and organize documents for production (Bates labeling, redactions)
• Assist with trial preparation, including exhibits, subpoenas, and witness coordination
• Summarize medical records, bills, and prepare medical chronologies
• Coordinate with expert witnesses (retention, communication, and documentation)
• Communicate with clients, carriers, opposing counsel, and vendors
• Review and process vendor invoices for accuracy and submission
• Perform legal research using online and firm resources

Qualifications

• 5+ years of litigation paralegal experience
• Insurance defense experience required
• Medical malpractice or healthcare litigation experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of litigation procedures and document production
• Experience with trial preparation and managing deadlines
• Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Education & Credentials

• Bachelor's Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate (ABA-approved preferred)
• Florida Registered Paralegal (preferred)
