Position Summary:
Our client, which provides bioprocess development services and cloud-connected bioreactors for cell culture experiments, is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Accountant to join our growing finance team. In this key role, you will own and optimize our cost accounting function, with a strong focus on inventory management, cost analysis, and operational insights to drive financial performance. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams across manufacturing, operations, and leadership to ensure accurate product costing and support informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full cost accounting function, including inventory valuation, cost of sales, product margin analysis, and variance reporting
  • Maintain and ensure integrity of the cost accounting system, including average cost reviews, data collection, and reporting
  • Perform in-depth analyses related to manufacturing productivity, cost standards, product profitability, and capital budgets
  • Partner with the Controller to support monthly financial close and reporting cycles
  • Prepare cost analyses to support budgeting, forecasting, and quoting processes
  • Support external financial audits by providing robust documentation on product costing and inventory valuation
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational and financial performance
  • Provide financial insights to support continuous improvement initiatives across the organization
  • Analyze capital expenditure projects for financial impact and ROI
  • Communicate cost drivers, trends, and results clearly across both financial and non-financial audiences

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of hands-on manufacturing cost accounting experience required
  • Prior experience in medical device or biotech hardware manufacturing strongly preferred
  • Expertise in inventory control, production planning, and cost accounting principles
  • Proven ability to support operations, supply chain, and cross-functional teams
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with NetSuite ERP required; familiarity with Tulip EMS is a plus
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment
