About Our Client
We are recruiting a meticulous and highly strategic Senior Estimator on behalf of a major civil and building construction company in the UAE. Our client handles diverse, high-value tenders and requires a seasoned estimation professional to spearhead competitive, accurate, and highly profitable bid submissions.
Role Purpose & Summary
As a Senior Estimator, you bear ultimate responsibility for tender accuracy, cost competitiveness, technical compliance, and commercial clarity. You will lead and mentor a team of estimators, ensuring that no tender is deemed complete until all quantities are rigorously verified, potential risks are quantified, costs are meticulously justified, and final management approval is achieved.
Detailed Scope of Activities
- Initial Tender Assessment: Lead the initial comprehensive review of incoming tender documents (drawings, specifications, BOQ, contract conditions). Evaluate project complexities, identify risks, establish delivery deadlines, and distribute checklists internally.
- Inter-Departmental Coordination: Coordinate effectively with Procurement for rapid, accurate subcontractor and supplier quotes; collaborate with QA/QC for technical standard inputs; and consult with PMC on buildability and construction methodologies.
- Quantity Take-Offs & BOQ Development: Lead, execute, and meticulously verify detailed quantity take-offs across architectural, structural, civil, and MEP disciplines, ensuring absolute alignment with IFC/tender drawings.
- Cost Estimation & Strategy: Develop highly accurate, complete cost structures (labor, equipment, materials, overheads, profit margin metrics). Formulate activity-based unit rates, compile internal cost comparison sheets, and craft optimal pricing strategies aligned with market trends and margin targets.
- RFI Management & Tender Clarifications: Prepare, submit, and track technical and commercial RFIs to eliminate ambiguities, updating bidding libraries and pricing models as clarifications arrive.
- Submission & Post-Tender Negotiations: Compile flawless, fully compliant commercial and technical proposals on time. Respond to post-tender queries, provide transparent breakdowns, participate in client/consultant negotiations, and smoothly hand over won projects to the T&C and PMC divisions with comprehensive cost-deviation models.
- Team Leadership & Database Management: Supervise, train, and review the output of junior Estimators. Maintain and continuously update internal cost libraries, historical pricing databases, productivity benchmarks, and market trend research.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience: Extensive senior-level experience in construction estimation, quantity surveying, and tendering within the UAE.
- Technical Mastery: Masterful command over civil, structural, and architectural quantity take-offs; deep familiarity with pricing strategies, productivity indicators, and market rates.
- Leadership: Demonstrated capability to guide, train, mentor, and review an internal team of estimators to achieve flawless accuracy.
- Attributes: Analytical, sharp, risk-aware, and unconditionally dedicated to precise figures and documentation. Excellent commercial negotiation and client interface skills.
