Media 365 is a 100% female owned, award-winning consultancy agency. Based in Lusaka, Zambia, we work with local and global clients in the public, private and non-profit sectors since 2008. We design and implement projects and campaigns using a design process that creates impact.
We are seeking a creative and meticulous Editor/Copy Writer who is passionate about creating compelling content for various audiences.
The Editor/Copy Writer is responsible for shaping Media 365’s publications and/or written work with a superb command in English and ensuring content is distinguished to the target audience.
Key Responsibilities;
Serve as SKY Girls Zed Magazine Editor (50% of time)
- Design Flat Plan and synopsis for magazine Issues.
- Generate story ideas for writing staff.
- Conduct and listen to audience feedback to ensure magazine is relevant to target audience
- Manage writing staff and freelance content producers.
- Approve content, appearance and layout of featured articles.
- Oversee photography, design and artwork to be used in the publication.
- Meet with writers and artists to discuss features, layouts and artwork.
- Comply with media law and industry regulations.
- Send regular briefs to writers that include deadlines, writing style and fees.
- Commission articles from writing staff and freelance content producers.
- Proofread, edit and rewrite articles to meet publication standards.
- Revise copy based on internal and client/feedback direction
- Plan, direct and attend photo shoots.
- Assist all team members to meet deadlines.
- Liaise with Designer to ensure Magazine design meets standards and according to brand guideline
- Coordinate Printing of Magazine
Copywriter (other Media 365 written work including websites, advertisements, press releases, newsletters) (50% of time)
- Interpret creative briefs to develop and produce creative concepts through execution on assigned brands
- Write original, clear and compelling copy and edit content for various mediums
- Conduct through research and interviews, to both understand the client’s needs and the target audiences
- Work with a team of project/account managers and creative professionals from concept development to delivery of final product
- Present copy concepts and final deliverables to internal team and to client representative as needed, and participate in client pitches when required
- Revise copy based on internal and client/feedback direction
- Source images and other content
To qualify for the role, you should meet the following requirements;
- Bachelor's degree in Communications/Journalism, English or related.
- Minimum 3-4 years of work experience in similar role with a solid portfolio of work
- Demonstrable experience in producing relevant content to target audiences.
- Strong writing, editing and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills.
- Natural leader who displays strong decision-making and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to understand and influence target audiences.
- Excellent organizational skill and multitasking ability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
