Campus Pastor – MTC Campus Pastor Job Description
Status: 15-20hrs / week
Reports to: Lead Pastor
Salary Scale: $25,000 - 35,000
Summary This position will provide associate leadership, direction, and oversight for ministries at McKenzie Towne Church, with primary responsibility for leading and growing a Sunday evening MTC Campus Ministry. The role serves under the leadership of the Lead Pastor.
Pastoral Duties Those recognized as pastors within McKenzie Towne Church should be able to verbalize a sense of a God-given calling to a vocation of Christian ministry. They should be able to articulate a theology/philosophy of ministry that shapes their pastoral engagement. They must have gifts that are strategic to the fulfillment of the position description.
The Campus Pastor will serve in three critical roles: pastor, developer, and manager.
Pastor
As pastor, this position will develop strong relationships with volunteers and the congregation with the desire to help them grow in their relationship with Jesus and in their relationship with others. This position will also have the abilities and gifts to communicate Gods Word effectively to a congregation of all ages.
Developer
As developer, this position will purposefully and strategically train and equip key leaders to prepare them to minister to the larger church as a whole. In that process this person will also train and equip staff and key leaders to train and equip others to do the same.
Manager
As manager, this position will provide both short-term and long-term strategy and leadership to create and maintain a ministry of excellence. They are responsible for planning and maintaining necessary policies and guidelines; creating and administering ministry budget lines; and ensuring effectiveness of ministries under the care of the Campus Pastor.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary Campus Pastor for a Sunday evening MTC Campus ministry – 8 hours a week
- Provide overall spiritual leadership, vision, and pastoral presence for a Sunday evening MTC campus gathering.
- Provide direct leadership, supervision, and pastoral care to any paid or part-time staff assigned to the campus.
- Develop, recruit for, coach, and oversee the volunteer teams that make the Campus happen (worship, hospitality, kids, 5/6, prayer, etc.).
- Lead regular planning and evaluation meetings with the Campus leadership team.
Connect people into community and contribute to the overall leadership and spiritual direction of McKenzie Towne Church – 3 hours a week
- In collaboration with the Campus Pastors of MTC, actively create a system to help people find and deepen belonging in the church through small groups, serving teams, and meaningful relationships (with special emphasis on those attending the Campus).
- Be an active member of the Pastoral Leadership Team. This includes occasional preaching opportunities (around 6–8 times per year as mutually agreed upon with the Lead Pastor), vision planning and contributing to church-wide events and initiatives.
Initiate and plan an outreach ministry to the surrounding McKenzie Towne community – 2 hours a week
- In collaboration with the Campus Pastors of MTC, lead adults in providing relevant resources and opportunities for adults to strengthen their evangelistic relationship with God and serve the larger community in a corporate way.
Initiate and provide pastoral care – 3 hours a week
- To perform official clergy duties such as weddings, baby dedications, and funerals (as schedule allows), as well regular Pastoral conversations and meetings.
Administrative duties – 2 hours a week
- E.g., record keeping, financial management of assigned budget lines, email, and planning.
Preferred Qualifications and Attributes
- Post-secondary education in a related field (graduate preferred)
- Experience leading ministries within a local church
- Able to develop and lead volunteer leaders
- Skilled and experienced communicator / preacher
- Disciple-maker, team player, innovative, flexible, strong time-manager, tech-savvy
- Culture carrier who reproduces the heart and vision of McKenzie Towne Church
