The Role

The Course Coordinator plays a vital role in the design, delivery, performance monitoring and review of offerings of the Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Information Technology (Hons) degree Program.

The role of the Course Coordinator is to take responsibility of the B.Sc. in IT degree Program and to support the planning, development and delivery of program.

In particular, the role promotes the excellence and currency of the B.Sc. in IT degree, ensures that the degree program aligns with the strategic plan of the University and the Department of Information Technology, where necessary, integrates with other courses and units, efficiently manages resources associated with the course delivery and undertakes all requisite monitoring, evaluation and reporting associated with the degree program.

In addition, the position manages the evaluation of course quality and improvement, ensures compliance with University policies and strategies, and ensures that relevant accreditations are obtained and maintained.

In conjunction with the Head of the Department of Information Technology, the Course Coordinator contributes to the strategic direction for the Faculty through the operational plan, aligning the  operational plan and participating in broader Campus policy and strategy development and implementation.

As a leadership role, the position contributes to the departmental planning and broader strategic matters. Course Coordinator – Department of Information Technology also function as strong advocate and representative for the Department of Information Technology and University, both on internal and external committees and in community, higher education and professional forums.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The Course Coordinator Cum Lecturer is responsible for the academic leadership, quality enhancement, integrity and management of the B.Sc. in IT degree. Actively participate in the Information Technology Faculty and University’s learning, teaching and agenda by:

1. Achieving strategic outcomes including graduate attributes, student satisfaction, course delivery, etc.

2. Conducting lectures related to B.Sc. in IT degree program.

3. Promoting the Department of Information Technology & priorities of the University, annual objectives & ongoing approach to student-centered learning and the scholarship of learning and teaching / research.

4. Overseeing the assurance of learning processes across the B.Sc. in IT degree program.

5. Collaborating with both academic & non-academic staff.

6. Working with colleagues to develop a collaborative and collegial approach to course design and delivery.

Qualifications

What we’re after…

1· Degree Qualified in Bachelor in Information Technology (Hons) or similar / related with first class or second class (upper division)

2· Master Degree in Information Technology or similar / related / reading for masters would be an added advantage for you.

3· Excellent Written and Verbal Communication skills in English and Sinhala.

4· Minimum 3-5 years of overall experience is compulsory, as you are required to work with minimum supervision.

5. Minimum 1 year lecturing experience in a recognized University or Higher Educational Institute

6· Strong / Sound organizational and Coordinating skills with the ability to multi task.

Nice to have

1. Prior experience in conducting lectures in IT related degree programs.

2. Experience working with academics to develop a collaborative and collegial approach to course design and delivery.

3. Minimum 3 years of experience.

4. Proficiency in MS Office suite and any other software.

5. Technology / Digital expertise and experience.
