Position Purpose

The Production Manager will manage all aspects of food manufacturing to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production. This is a hands-on leadership role accountable for production planning, compliance, cost control, team performance, and continuous improvement. Reports to: General Manager / Directors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage daily/weekly production schedules to meet OTIF delivery.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop production staff; build a high-performance culture.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, FSANZ, WHS and customer standards.
  • Monitor/improve KPIs: OEE, yield, waste reduction, labour efficiency.
  • Drive Lean / Continuous Improvement to boost productivity and reduce cost.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance and equipment reliability with maintenance partners.
  • Manage raw material & packaging supply in partnership with procurement/logistics.
  • Maintain documentation: batch records, SOPs, training, and quality files.
  • Lead site audits, customer inspections, and regulatory visits.
  • Provide regular KPI, safety, and quality reports to senior management.

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years leadership in food or beverage manufacturing (production operations).
  • Proven knowledge of HACCP, GMP, allergen management, FSANZ regs, and WHS.
  • Strong people leadership with coaching/mentoring focus and a hands-on style.
  • ERP/MRP proficiency and production data analysis/reporting capability.
  • Demonstrated success implementing Lean/CI and achieving cost reductions.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Food Technology, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • HACCP certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Desirable: WHS or Lean/CI certification.
