Millennium Marine is a respected marine services company based in QLD, specialising in high-quality boat building support, hull refinishing, repairs, and restoration. While we do not build complete vessels from scratch, our work plays an essential role in the construction and maintenance cycle especially in hull preparation, surface finishing, material application, and detailed repair work for both luxury and commercial boats.

Position Overview:

We are currently looking for an experienced Boat Builder & Repairer to join our skilled team. In this role, you will assist with the construction and repair of vessels by supporting key phases such as hull preparation, fairing, assembly, and refinishing. You will work with a variety of materials and marine finishes to ensure top-tier workmanship and long-lasting results.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare hull surfaces through sanding, fairing, and filling to achieve optimal structural and aesthetic results

Assist in the fitting and assembly of hull components and boat structures (e.g. frames, decks, supports)

Perform repairs on damaged hulls and surfaces using appropriate marine-grade materials and techniques

Apply fairing compounds, epoxy, fiberglass, and protective coatings as required

Conduct refinishing tasks including varnishing, spray painting, and gelcoat repair

Collaborate with boat builders and other tradespeople to support project deadlines and quality standards

Select and work with materials such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, marine timber, and resins

Ensure work is carried out in accordance with environmental, health and safety protocols

Document all repairs and finishes, maintaining clear records for quality assurance

Required Skills & Experience:

Proven experience in boat building, marine repair, or composite fabrication

Proficient with hand tools and power tools used in marine construction and finishing

Familiarity with fairing and finishing systems, including 2-pack and gelcoat products

Ability to read and interpret marine specifications and drawings is an advantage

Strong attention to detail with a passion for high-quality craftsmanship

Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

Physically fit and comfortable working in boatyards and under environmental controls

Relevant trade qualification (e.g. Marine Craft Construction) preferred
