Position Summary:
The Health Promotion Officer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion programs tailored to the needs of culturally diverse communities in Western Australia. This role aims to improve community awareness of health risks, encourage healthy lifestyles, and enhance access to health services, particularly among vulnerable and multicultural populations.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver health promotion campaigns in collaboration with community stakeholders, health agencies, and government organisations. Conduct community needs assessments to identify key health issues affecting multicultural and disadvantaged groups.
Develop culturally appropriate resources such as brochures, social media content, and workshop materials.
Organise and facilitate health education workshops, forums, and information sessions across various communities.
Evaluate program effectiveness, collect feedback, and prepare comprehensive reports with recommendations for improvement.
Build and maintain strong community relationships to ensure culturally sensitive service delivery.
Collaborate with internal service teams, including aged care and disability services, to integrate health promotion into existing programs.
Stay up to date with public health trends, national strategies, and government policies affecting multicultural populations.
Essential Criteria:
Tertiary qualifications in Health Promotion, Public Health, Community Development, or a related field.
Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating health promotion or public health initiatives.
Strong understanding of culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) communities and their health needs.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively with external stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital communication tools.
Current National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
Must have Current WA drivers licence.
Desirable Criteria:
Fluency in a second language spoken in WAs multicultural communities. Especially Bengali and Hindi
Experience working in not-for-profit or community service organisations.
Knowledge of the NDIS, aged care, or mental health sectors.
