Wattle Vale Partnership is seeking a skilled and motivated Broadacre and Livestock Farmer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mixed farming operations and be ready to take on a diverse range of responsibilities.
Key Duties:
Plan and oversee daily farm operations to ensure productivity and efficiency.
Supervise and provide training to farmworkers as required.
Develop and implement farming strategies for livestock and cropping activities to maximize output and sustainability.
Maintain vehicles, tractors, machinery, and sundry station plant and equipment.
Perform general maintenance tasks, including:
o Mixing feeds.
o Checking livestock health and welfare.
o Cleaning and maintaining water points/infrastructure.
o Maintaining fences and yards.
o Upkeep of station buildings and infrastructure.
Monitor farm budgets, resource use, and inventory.
Identify and implement improvements to farm systems, processes, and technologies.
Essential Criteria:
Proven ability to manage daily farm operations and make strategic decisions.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Experience in cropping operations, including planting, spraying, and harvesting.
Proficiency in livestock operations, such as mustering, drafting, and animal health management.
Competent mechanical skills and knowledge of diesel-powered machines.
Sound knowledge of sheep, cattle, and cropping practices.
Demonstrated competence in stock handling and animal husbandry.
Welding skills and ability to maintain farm infrastructure.
Willingness to embrace new technology and innovation.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree or higher. (At least five years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification).
At least 3 years of experience in a similar environment.
A valid driver's license and the ability to operate a range of farm machinery.
Additional training or certification in livestock handling, cropping systems, or machinery maintenance is advantageous.
