About the job Category Lead Manager, Strategic Sourcing
To lead category-based sourcing and drive the transformation of the Sourcing & Procurement (S&P) function toward a strategic, innovative, and value-driven model within the healthcare and eldercare sectors.
This role transcends traditional category management, playing a pivotal part in shaping sourcing strategies, optimizing procurement practices, and driving new approaches to vendor partnerships and service delivery.
Key responsibilities:
- Category Strategy & Transformation - Develop and implement category sourcing strategies across key spend areas, while identifying opportunities to transform sourcing approaches such as consolidation, partnerships, and bundled services. Drive a shift from transactional procurement to category-led sourcing by introducing best practices and innovative sourcing models.
- Strategic Sourcing Leadership - Lead RFQ, RFP, and tender processes end-to-end, defining sourcing strategies that align with operational and organisational needs. Drive cost optimisation and value-based sourcing outcomes, while establishing framework agreements and long-term vendor partnerships.
- Stakeholder & Business Engagement - Work closely with operations, clinical, and support teams to translate operational needs into effective sourcing strategies. Influence stakeholders toward more structured and strategic sourcing approaches, balancing service quality, cost, and operational considerations.
- Vendor & Contract Management - Build and manage strategic supplier relationships, driving vendor performance and accountability. Support contract structuring and negotiation, ensuring strong commercial and operational alignment.
- Capability Building & Process Improvement - Support the development of category management practices across the team while improving procurement processes and sourcing methodologies. Collaborate with analytics and systems teams to leverage data in sourcing decisions and contribute to SOP and governance improvements.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 8–12 years of procurement or sourcing experience in category management and strategic sourcing.
- Experience in healthcare, services, or stakeholder-driven environments preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change and improve procurement practices.
- At least one year of experience in a team supervision or management role would be advantageous.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Degree holder, preferably in a healthcare-related discipline.
