Chief Operating Officer

Our client, a leading Dubai-based distributor and microfinance company specializing in automobiles and related products, is expanding its operations to Sri Lanka and establishing a branch in Colombo. This opportunity is for the Sri Lanka branch.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of all branches and field units nationwide.

• Ensure uniform implementation of Board-approved SOPs, policies, and operational manuals.

• Manage credit operations end-to-end: origination, appraisal, approval, disbursement, monitoring, and recovery.

• Maintain portfolio quality by monitoring PAR, NPLs, restructuring, write-offs, and recovery performance.

• Ensure full compliance with Microfinance Act No. 6 of 2016 and CBSL directions and guidelines.

• Implement strong operational risk controls, internal controls, and fraud prevention mechanisms.

• Oversee core banking / microfinance management systems (MMS) and MIS accuracy.

• Lead operational teams, drive productivity, and support branch expansion and scalability initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.

• MBA / MSc or professional qualification (CA, CMA, ACCA) preferred.

• 10 – 15 years experience in microfinance, banking, NBFC, or regulated financial institution.

• Minimum 5 years in senior operational management role.

• Proven experience managing a loan portfolio of USD 20 million or above.

• Strong expertise in credit operations, branch management, and field-based lending.

• In-depth knowledge of CBSL regulations and regulatory compliance requirements.

• Must meet CBSL Fit & Proper Criteria with no adverse financial or legal history.
