About the job Senior Technology Infrastructure Engineer
Provide engineering and technical support for our cloud and physical technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, and network systems.
Monitor and maintain the overall health and performance of the systems, proactively identifying and resolving any issues to minimise downtime. 3 Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems related to hardware, software, and network infrastructure, ensuring efficient and reliable operations. 4 Collaborate other teams to assist in resolving escalated issues, providing guidance and expertise as needed. 5 Manage multiple systems, including but not limited to servers, storage devices, virtualisation platforms, cloud services such as AWS and Azure, and cybersecurity systems 6 Work in tandem with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company 7 Conduct regular system audits to ensure compliance with security standards and protocols. 8 Implement, maintain and test effective backup and disaster recovery strategies, suggesting improvements where possible to ensure data integrity and minimise business disruptions. 9 Monitor system logs and alerts, promptly investigating and addressing any potential security threats or vulnerabilities. 10 Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement system upgrades, patches, and enhancements, ensuring minimal impact to operations 11 Document and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and operational guidelines. 12 Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices.
Experience:
- Excellent knowledge of storage (NetApp desirable) Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows (physical and virtual), including associated infrastructure services (AD, DHCP, DNS, NPS etc)
- Excellent knowledge of VMware (SRM experience desirable)
- Good knowledge of data centre and campus switching/routing technologies and physical cabling management (Cisco Catalyst / Nexus / Meraki desirable) Working knowledge of cloud services (Azure desirable)
- Understanding of cybersecurity systems, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint protection (Cisco FirePOWER desirable)
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with demonstrable ability to leverage a first principles approach to solving complex problems across technologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to give and receive constructive feedback. Ability to manage own priorities and work to defined deadlines.
- Level of experience: Demonstrable experience of implementing and managing shared storage platforms supporting virtualised environments. Strong, demonstrable experience of implementing and maintaining and recovering Windows based server infrastructures.
- Strong demonstrable experience implementing, managing and recovering virtual infrastructure on VMware Experience supporting data centre, distribution and access infrastructures and Wi-Fi networks.
- Experience in a similar 3 rd line role and a willingness to learn new technologies and processes.
- Experience with cloud services (e.g. Azure).
Qualifications:
Associate degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience or relevant certifications will also be considered (e.g. MCSE, CCNA, NCDA)
