Accounts Senior / Semi Senior | Up to £40,000 DOE | Leek, Staffordshire

We are working with a well-established accountancy practice in Leek that is looking to appoint an Accounts Senior / Semi Senior to support its existing client base. This opportunity would suit an experienced practice professional who is qualified by experience or actively studying towards ACCA or ACA and is ready to take the next step in their career within a supportive and forward-thinking firm.

Role Overview

As an Accounts Senior / Semi Senior, you will deliver high-quality accounting services to owner-managed businesses, sole traders and SMEs. Your work will include preparing year-end and management accounts, supporting junior team members and maintaining strong client relationships. You will be encouraged to take ownership of your assignments while receiving guidance and support from Team Leaders and Directors to ensure deadlines are met and client needs are addressed promptly.

Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare year-end accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
  • Prepare corporate tax computations and collaborate with the tax team as necessary.
  • Manage assignments from planning through to completion, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Support and review the work of trainees and junior staff members.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and service delivery.

Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of 3–4 years of experience in an accountancy practice environment.
  • Qualified by experience or AAT/ACCA/ACA qualified.
  • Demonstrable experience preparing accounts and working directly with clients.
  • Sound understanding of accounting and tax principles.
  • Comfortable working with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, and Iris.
  • Strong attention to detail, effective time management and solid communication skills.
  • Proactive and friendly approach to teamwork and client service.
