Family Law Solicitor
Salary: Circa £40,000 DOE
Hours: Mon Fri, 9am5pm (part-time/flexible working considered)

The Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Law Solicitor to join their growing team. This role involves managing a varied caseload of private family matters, including financial remedy and child arrangements, as well as cohabitation, separation, and pre/post-nuptial agreements. The ideal candidate will have strong client care skills, sound procedural knowledge, and the ability to manage cases from instruction to conclusion with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a broad caseload of family law matters, including:

    • Financial remedy proceedings (divorce, separation, financial settlements)

    • Child arrangement disputes (residence, contact, parental responsibility)

    • Non-molestation and occupation orders (where applicable)

    • Separation and cohabitation agreements

    • Pre- and post-nuptial agreements

  • Provide clear, tailored, and empathetic legal advice to clients

  • Conduct advocacy in the Family Court where appropriate

  • Liaise with counsel and external professionals as needed

  • Prepare court applications, statements, and supporting documentation

  • Ensure files are maintained in line with regulatory and firm standards

  • Progress cases in line with court timetables and client expectations

  • Work collaboratively within the team to contribute to the department's success

  • Support development of a Family Legal Aid contract (if experienced in this area)

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and case law

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales)

  • Minimum 2 years PQE in family law

  • Experience in private family law matters (public law or legal aid experience is a plus)

  • Strong organisational and time-management skills

  • Excellent communication and client care abilities

  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
