Role/s: 1 x EL1 React AI Developer

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is undertaking major work programs to deliver innovative, fit-for-purpose digital solutions that improve the National Disability Insurance Scheme. The NDIA seeks a React Developer to join the Digital team within the DDI Branch.

This role is responsible for developing and supporting modern web applications that enable participants, providers and partners to interact with the NDIA through accessible, secure and user-centred digital channels. Working as part of a multidisciplinary delivery team, the React Developer will collaborate with business analysts, designers, backend developers and technical leads to build high-quality frontend solutions. The successful candidate will be expected to use AI-assisted software development as a primary delivery mechanism, leveraging contemporary AI tools to accelerate implementation, testing, documentation and troubleshooting while maintaining accountability for the quality, security, accessibility and maintainability of the resulting solution. Strong technical knowledge remains essential, however success in the role will require the ability to effectively direct, validate and optimise AI-assisted development workflows as part of day-to-day software delivery.

Key duties and responsibilities

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Develop, test and maintain modern web applications using React, TypeScript and contemporary frontend engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, designers, architects and backend development teams to deliver high-quality user experiences and integrated digital solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of accessible, secure and maintainable applications that align with agency standards and user needs.
  • Utilise AI-assisted software development tools to accelerate implementation, testing, troubleshooting, documentation and delivery activities while maintaining accountability for code quality and technical outcomes.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing activities, CI/CD processes and continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality and delivery outcomes.

Support the development and ongoing enhancement of reusable components, design systems and shared frontend capabilities.

Subject to negotiations with line manager, hybrid working arrangements in line with current NDIA policy are available (minimum of 3 days each week in the office, with flexible arrangements in place for the remaining 2 days).
