Role/s: 2 x EL1 UX/UI Senior Designer

The EL1 UX / UI Senior Designer (Labour Hire) is accountable under broad direction to undertake very complex work that delivers quality outcomes across the functions of the NDIA.

The position will exercise a considerable degree of independence to engage in complex problem solving and issues management within the functions. The position will exercise sound decision-making and judgement to produce senior level advice and support.

The EL1 UX / UI Senior Designer will provide ongoing improvement of future digital products within the NDIA and help achieve great outcomes for all our users, participants, and providers. Your previous experience designing both internal systems and citizen facing experiences will be an advantage as we improve digital services and experiences for users living with disabilities.

The position is responsible for actively managing key internal and external stakeholder relationships and where required will represent and negotiate on behalf of the NDIA to advance the NDIA's interests across a range of forums.

Supplier Briefing:

A supplier briefing will be held for this role on Tuesday 25 August – meeting details will be posted in the Q&A section of the RFQ for invited Sellers only.

Rate:

The proposed rate should reflect candidate's skills and experience against the Evaluation Criteria. Candidates that do not demonstrate these criteria will not be assessed. Candidates should be aware that rates may be negotiated further as part of the selection process.

Citizenship:

As part of the eligibility and suitability requirement, NDIA seeks Labour Hire Workers who are Australian citizens only. Successful candidates will be required to furnish valid evidence of citizenship during the Pre-engagement Check.

Labour Hire Licence:

Applicable for ACT, VIC and QLD: Labour hire licences are required in the state that specified personnel are being contracted.

Key duties and responsibilities

Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Design wireframes and prototypes.
    • Translate concepts into low to high-fidelity wireframes and prototypes that align to system standards
    • Rapidly iterate and validate solutions, gather feedback and refine
    • Ensure documentation, annotated, and aligned with component usage to streamline handover
  • Contribute to the NDIS Design System.
    • Actively contribute to the NDIS design system to maintain scalable, accessible, and user-centred design patterns, components, and guidelines that support product consistency and efficiency across platforms
    • Define and document interaction models, visual principles, accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG), and UX best practices to ensure cohesive user experiences.
  • Facilitate co-design workshops to generate and iterate ideas with various stakeholders.
  • Facilitate usability testing with staff, providers, and participants of the scheme.
  • Gather and evaluate user requirements, in collaboration with product and business owners.
  • Conduct business, provider and participant engagement activities to maximise opportunities to co-design the requirements and outcome of the project. This includes changes to processes, systems, people and information.
  • Illustrate concepts using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps.
  • Capture and analysis of data related requirements in collaboration with business analysts.
  • Achieve agreement and the formal sign-off of requirements / wireframes by stakeholders and governance groups as required.
  • Influence project documentation to support the UI/UX requirements definition, e.g. requirements specifications, process maps, service design artefacts, functional and non-functional requirements, change management implications, data and reporting considerations.
  • Produce deliverables in accordance with project schedules.
