Overview

The Bar Manager is responsible for overseeing all bar and beverage operations, ensuring exceptional service standards, efficient operations, and strong financial performance. This role leads and develops the bar team while maintaining high levels of quality, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction in line with company standards.

Key Objectives

  • Manage bar operations in line with company standards, service procedures, and financial targets
  • Deliver exceptional guest experiences through professional and engaging service
  • Ensure the bar is fully prepared for service with proper mise-en-place and setup
  • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing bar team
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation

Responsibilities

Operations & Service

  • Oversee beverage and bar service across all relevant areas, including lounge service
  • Ensure all team members follow company service standards and procedures
  • Maintain excellent bar setup, cleanliness, and readiness before and during service
  • Act as Duty Manager when required, handling operational issues during shifts
  • Engage with guests and manage special requests, functions, and events

Team Management & Development

  • Recruit, train, and supervise bar team members (Head Bartenders, Bartenders, Bar Backs)
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels and effective break management
  • Conduct regular team briefings and on-the-job training sessions
  • Manage team performance, discipline, and staff relations in line with company policy
  • Complete probation reviews and annual performance appraisals
  • Maintain accurate staff records, including training and performance documentation

Stock & Cost Control

  • Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, stock rotation, and stocktaking
  • Maintain optimal stock levels and ensure proper storage conditions
  • Monitor and control beverage costs and minimize wastage
  • Ensure all equipment is used correctly and maintained in good condition

Guest Experience & Quality Control

  • Ensure all food and beverage items are served to the highest quality standards
  • Handle guest feedback and complaints professionally and efficiently
  • Maintain excellent customer relations and a guest-first approach at all times
  • Ensure accurate billing and payment handling procedures

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and team presentation
  • Report and follow up on maintenance issues promptly
  • Participate in emergency procedures, including fire and evacuation drills
  • Report any security or safety concerns to the appropriate authorities

Communication & Reporting

  • Maintain regular communication with the General Manager on performance and issues
  • Attend management meetings and contribute to operational planning
  • Lead regular staff meetings to ensure clear communication across the team
