About the job Mechanic-in-Training
Qualifications:
- MECHANIC-IN-TRAINING - WASTEWATER TREATMENT
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to obtain a Class "C" license in wastewater collection systems from an approved vendor of the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation within one (1) year of the employment start date.
- Construction experience
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare pre-task plan before beginning work and adhere to all safety requirements specific to the job
- Ability to participate in weekly rotating "after hours" callout duty that requires prompt response on a 24-hour basis, including weekends and holidays.
- Assists Lift Station Operator with preventive maintenance and repairs for lift station department facilities, electromechanical machinery, and equipment.
- Lubricates equipment and checks for malfunctions.
- Replaces packing in pumps and valves
- Replaces bearings in motors, pumps, and other equipment.
- Maintains the physical appearance of the lift station and housekeeping.
- Assist in performing scheduled preventative maintenance and routine cleaning as required.
- Perform daily and weekly preventative maintenance on all equipment
- Performs routine electrical maintenance and motor repairs.
- Lift Station wet well cleaning
- Performs clean-up work after repairs are completed.
- Complete work orders and field complaint forms
- Perform other duties as required.
